As previously reported, in order to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 12, 2018 №. PP-4059 “On measures for the further development of systems of technical regulation, standardization, certification and metrology”, the Uzstandard agency became a member of Affiliate Plus program of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The SMIIC adopted the OIC / SMIIC 9: 2019, Halal Tourism Services - General Requirements standard to promote tourism and the growing number of tourists from Muslim countries. This standard was developed by the SMIIC's Technical Committee for Tourism and tourism issues (TC 5).

In recent years, a number of projects have been implemented in our country with the participation of international organizations, in particular with the Asian Development Bank, one of the international financial institutions.

In order to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 12, 2018 №. PP-4059 “On measures for the further development of systems of technical regulation, standardization, certification and metrology” and Decree of May 30, 2019 №. PP-4348 “On additional measures for the creation of favorable conditions for the further development of the electrical industry and increase the investment and export potential of the industry ”, the National Electrotechnical Committee (NEC) was created in accordance with IEC requirements to create a more efficient system  adoption and implementation of standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

The SMIIC has established new technical committees on “Halal Pharmaceutical Issues” (Technical Committee TC 16 - Halal Pharmaceutical Issues) and Handicraft (Technical Committee TC 17 - Handicraft).

On December 11, 2019, the Uzstandart agency held a meeting with the company of the Russian Federation “Tatneft”, JSC “Uzkimyosanoat” and representatives of LLC“Birinci Rezinotehnika Zavodi”.

In order to strengthen mutually beneficial relations in the field of metrology between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus, the State Enterprise "National Metrological Institute of Uzbekistan" under Uzstandard Agency  and the Belarusian State Institute of Metrology (BelGIM) signed a cooperation agreement.
