Today, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact not only on manufacturing, but also on tourism. To prevent these negative consequences, the Spanish Standardization Association (UNE), a full member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has developed a national guide to boosting tourism.

In collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE), the Spanish Standardization Association has published a number of national specifications containing recommendations and guidelines for COVID-19.

Since restrictions have been lifted for millions of Spanish and foreign tourists, tourists are again returning back to world-class beaches and historic Spanish cities. A new guide, called UNE 0066, contains recommendations and precautions to help those working in the tourism industry control the coronavirus. This guide applies to many industries and operators, including travel agencies, travel offices, restaurants, hotels and rental homes, public transportation, wineries, museums, and cultural heritage sites.

Given the current need, the project was fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism of Spain and developed in a short period of time.
